This is Twins Territory

I feel like a pretty terrible Twins fan, but even though the inaugural season of Target Field was during my freshman year in college, I hadn’t been to a game in the new stadium until this week.  My freshman roommate from Missouri went to far more games than I did, and I believe she even bought an inaugural season t-shirt!  In my defense, she’s a huge Cardinals fan and loves to watch baseball whereas I’m a football girl at heart.  But either way, I really should have gone to a game in the five years I’ve lived in Minneapolis because the new stadium is fantastic.

The Peanuts gang is a big deal around Minneapolis because their creator, Charles Schulz, was born here.  There are sculptures of the different characters all over the city, but I liked that a set of every character was here at the stadium, repping their baseball gear.

Bullseye, the Target mascot, also makes his appearance around town.  Here he greets fans that come to the stadium off of the light rail transit line.

Minneapolis hosted the all star game this year, and I love when my favorite city gets some national exposure.  I hope everyone who went to the game had a great time!  I’m just a fan of the stadium logo, but I love everything in this graphic style.

My favorite thing about the stadium (besides the fantastic view of the downtown skyline from most of the seats) is how open and airy it is.  The back side of the stadium is largely open and this allows for summer breezes to flow through the concourse.  It’s definitely an improvement over the stuffy Metrodome!  It made for a very pleasant evening where we sat on the second level and the perfect atmosphere for enjoying America’s favorite pastime.

Even though the Twins lost, it was still a great way to spend the evening.  I went with my parents and cousins so it was nice to spend time chatting with everyone.  Plus, my cousin brought a friend who happened to be one of my high school friends whom I hadn’t seen in forever!  That was a nice surprise!

I hope you all get a chance to enjoy some baseball this summer.  Don’t forget to root for the home team!
